Challenge for Charity (C4C) is a 32-year-old non-profit organization started at Stanford University that now boasts chapters at nine top West Coast MBA programs. The purpose of this organization is as simple as it is important: to develop future business leaders with a lifelong commitment to community involvement and social responsibility.The 2016-17 MBA Challenge for Charity enters its 33rd year in which top West Coast MBA programs will compete in fundraising, social, volunteer, and athletic events in pursuit of the coveted ‘Golden Briefcase.’The Golden Briefcase is awarded to the school that achieves the highest score in the following categories: - Best schoolwide attendance and all around sports performance at C4C weekend. - Most hours volunteered on a per-student basis throughout the year. - Most funds raised on a per-student basis throughout the year.
Membership BenefitsAll C4C chapters concentrate their time and effort on charitable organizations. Common to all schools is their work with Special Olympics, which was made the primary beneficiary of C4C when the organization was created. To help each chapter focus their efforts further, the additional charities are chosen by each school from the many worthwhile organizations found in their surrounding communities. USC Marshall C4C partners with Special Olympics Southern California, Junior Achievement of Southern California, and A Better LA.
