Details
When is it??
Thursday April 16th through Sunday April 19th. If you wanna show up on Friday or leave Saturday that's a-ok.
Do I need to be a "camper?"
Absolutely not! Yosemite's super popular among people with all levels of outdoor experience. We're staying somewhere convenient, and your experience can vary from "Alex Honnold in Free Solo" to "wow this is basically a nice outdoor museum."
What's on the agenda??
Hikes! Hanging out. Stargazing. In the past we've been known to find an abandoned camp-site and partake in an adult beverage or two. Someone may hug a tree. Someone may jump in the river. We'll have some group activities planned but you can also peel off and choose your own adventure. It's one of the most beautiful places on earth (I'm not even exaggerating) so I can guarantee a memorable experience.
Where are we staying??
We've booked a bunch of tent cabins at Curry Village in the valley of the park. Curry Village is basically Yosemite's version of glamping. The cabins have cots and blankets so you're not sleeping on the floor, and there's running water and hot showers at the communal bathroom buildings. There's also a grocery store, a cafeteria, a pizza restaurant, coffee shop, and even a bar.
What does the ticket cover??
This ticket buys you a separate cot in one of the four-person tent cabins for three nights (Thursday, Friday, Saturday evenings). Food and drinks are your own responsibility. We'll try to coordinate carpools but it's best to find a friend who has a car and convince them to go with you :)
How are tent assignments handled??
Once you sign up you'll be sent a link to a google sheet to pick your tent. Team up with your friends to grab a spot together or join up with some randos and make some new ones!
What should I plan on bringing??
Warm clothes. Layers. A sleeping bag. A flash light. Camera is a must. Day pack for a day hike. We'll send out more info closer to the event.
Is there an entrance fee to the park??
The park typically charges $35/vehicle at the gate. However, this year the government intituted a new $100 fee for non-residents of the U.S. It's a bummer but it's still tbd how they're defining "residents" and how strictly they are applying it. We'll send along more info as we get it.
Someone said this is "Type 2" fun. What does that mean??
Ask chat. But to be honest this is a pretty ritzy way to experience the great outdoors. If you don't believe me ask some 2nd years who went last year. Yosemite's dope.
