Where will we stay? We stay at tents in curry village. This is the epicenter of Yosemite and the perfect place to have as home base. ROOM SIGNUPS will be open IMMEDIATELY. Once you have signed up, feel free to put your name down on the google doc: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/140rfEZXoITY1k-WucrzoRab-cLFygnrldzpM_yoLIxE/edit?gid=1813943137#gid=1813943137
What are the accommodations like? We will be staying in unheated tents. They are full size tents that sit on a wooden frame and have an electric light. Each tent has four beds. Each tent also has a food locker. Bathrooms and showers are in a separate building nearby. Here is some info: https://www.travelyosemite.com/lodging/curry-village/vr/curry-village-wob-unheated-564/
You can find more info easily through google.
What should I bring? It will be cold, especially at night. BRING WARM CLOTHING! It is better to have too much clothing than too little – especially since everyone will be driving there, and you can leave excess in your tent or car. There are restaurants and groceries available near where we are staying but I recommend bringing some food and water as it will be cheaper than buying it all there. Bring an external battery if you would like to charge your phone or other items. The tents do not have outlets. Many other buildings do but I doubt you’ll want to hang out in the coffee shop all day. Bring a backpack – some of the hikes in Yosemite or LONG. You will need to carry a lot of water and some food/snacks. For most of the hikes, carrying a water bottle will be very insufficient. Having a headlamp or flashlight is always useful too.
General Notes: Yosemite has bears – make sure you are keeping your food in a bear-proof locker so that you do not have to spend time with one. Stay on hiking trails – doing so will keep you safe and prevent you from getting lost. If you are hiking, and you are halfway through your water, turn around and go back down. Make sure you are back from your hike before the sun goes down – the temperature will drop quickly after the sun goes down and hiking will become much more difficult and dangerous. Please bring warm clothing. Last but not least, Yosemite is a beautiful place – please respect it by cleaning up after yourselves and adhering to any rules the park employees have posted.
