Speaker Series

GREA brings in many industry professionals, real estate executives and keynote speakers throughout the year covering a variety of product types and topics. Some of our key events include the brown bag lunches which are informal sessions with recent graduates where students can discuss jobs, the industry and the hiring process. The Lusk Center Speaker Series brings industry executives to campus in order to discuss key real estate topics over lunch.

Networking Events

GREA provides crucial networking opportunities each semester with classmates, alumni and industry executives. Events include round tables, recent graduate mixers and alumni happy hours. One of the biggest events each year is the real estate industry night which is the nation’s largest student real estate recruiting event.

Site Visits

Given the tangible nature of commercial real estate, site visits are a key way to enhance student learning while building valuable contacts. GREA organizes site visits on a monthly basis across product type. Past site visits have included The Pearl on Wilshire, Goodman Logistics Center, Palisades Village, Echelon Business Park, and Westfield Century City.

Case Competitions

Each year, USC is invited to compete in many different real estate case competitions including the UT Austin McCombs School of Business Real Estate Challenge, the UNC Real Estate Development Challenge, the MIT Real Estate CASE Competition, and many others. In addition, USC competes against UCLA in The National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) Real Estate Challenge. In 2019 the five-member USC team took home the Silver Shovel, beating out UCLA in determining the best development proposal for an 15-acre site in the City of Stanton, CA.

Educational Training

GREA offers members in-depth commercial real estate training from both outside experts and second year veterans of the industry. Trainings include ARGUS Enterprise, Training the Street and other types of financial modeling, negotiation training, comprehensive interview preparation, and resume editing.
