USC Marshall School of Business | Groups

Purpose

The Marshall Outdoor Club serves as a catalyst to get MBA students active in the environment, educate them on outdoor skills and etiquette, and connect them with other students outside of the urban setting. We host events for seasoned veterans as well as for novice members looking to try something out for the first time. We also serve as a platform for students to get to know each other in a relaxed environment.

Our goals include

  • Create opportunities for students to meet one another and enjoy the outdoors
  • Help students explore the unique outdoor destinations in the Southern California area
  • Organize events to teach students new activities and offer experienced students the opportunity to showcase their talents and assist their peers in learning
  • Foster a community for like-minded outdoor athletes, encouraging student outdoor activity

Events

We host three major events during the year: Mammoth ski trip, learn to surf, and Joshua Tree camping. Other events include: hiking, fishing, beach volleyball, kayaking, sky diving, and rock climbing.  Examples of past event are: Topanga Canyon Hike, Point Dume Climbing Day, and a Santa Monica Beach Luau.
