Hello MBCP!

Our Spring Kickoff is this Wednesday, 5-6:20pm in JKP 204.  Join us to eat and talk upcoming competitions, best practices, prize money, who wore it best and who's interning where. 

We've also got training sessions starting next week so check out upcoming events and sign yourself up!

Here's what you need to know this week:

Competition Spotlight:
Pircher, Nichols & Meeks Mock Negotiations Challenge

Sign up by midnight TONIGHT!

If you're ready to test your negotiation skills against other USC MBAs and JDs, then the Pircher, Nichols & Meeks Mock Negotiations Challenge is ready for you.  

On February 23, 2018, students from the USC Marshall School of Business and the USC Gould School of Law will be teamed up into pairs to negotiate the legal and business point of a simulated real estate deal prepared by Pircher, Nichols & Meeks.  Teams of 2 compete for a $3000 prize.

Coaching will be provided beforehand, and an all-star team of judges will evaluate each team’s performance. The event will finish off with a reception, where winners will be announced! During the day, the judges will share their knowledge of the field as they walk students through the more subtle points of the deal.

There is a mandatory kickoff meeting February 13, 2018, 12:30pm - 1:30pm

Join us as we get geared up for spring semester competitions! We will be sharing best practices as well as rolling out the calendar of competitions for this semester.

2. Financial Modeling For Case Competitions (Repeat from Fall 2017):  
  • Tuesday, February 13th - 3:30-4:50pm - JKP 112

Back by popular demand! We'll walk through the thought process behind the assumptions of your financial model; how to build and organize your model in Excel; and how to best present those numbers in your deck and appendix. If you have any questions in particular that you would like to see addressed in the training, email them to Claire Jadulang before Friday, February 9th.

3. PowerPoint Tips and Tricks (Repeat from Fall 2017)  
  • Tuesday, February 13th - 3:30-4:50pm - JKP 112

This is an opportunity to brush up on your PowerPoint skills for competitions, project, and that thing called real work.  Tips and tricks include effective use of the Master Slide, visualization of ideas and financials, and overall deck management.
