Who we are

We are USC's premier business in gaming club offering the experiences, opportunities, and community to prepare you for a successful post-MBA career at the top video game companies.

Case Competitions

MIGA partners with some of the foremost video game companies in the world, like Blizzard Entertainment and Jam City, to hold multiple case competitions a year. Case competitions challenge teams of students to find innovative and well-reasoned solutions to complex business problems in the video game industry. After rigorous preparation, often under tight time constraints, teams present their solutions to panels of judges comprised of executives and top creatives from the host companies. Case competitions are an invaluable opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience solving business problems in gaming and impress leaders at some of the industry's most prominent companies.

Teardown Competitions

Through Teardowns, MIGA offers its members realistic and dynamic opportunities to develop and refine the skills necessary to critically analyze various aspects of gaming. MIGA develops its teardowns in-house and through collaboration with leading gaming companies, like Sensor Tower. Teardowns can focus on a wide variety of topics, ranging from general trends in gaming, specific genres, individual games, or even particular features within a game. Competing MIGA members hone the skills necessary to thrive in a business-oriented gaming career by presenting their analyses to guest judges drawn from notable companies in the industry.

Advanced Game Project (AGP)

Not only is the University of Southern California home to Marshall, one of the nation's top-ranked MBA programs, but it is also home to the USC Games Program, which is often regarded as the number-one game design program in the country. MIGA takes full advantage of these programs' synergistic potential by offering MBAs the opportunity to join teams of students from the USC Game Program's AGP who are building real video games. MIGA members often fill producer, marketing, user experience, or even narrative roles on these teams. This is an amazing experience for MBA students that provides unparalleled first-hand experience with the process of building a video game.

Mentorship

MIGA's mentorship program matches first- and second-year students together for a mutually beneficial relationship. First-year students can draw on the knowledge and experience of second-year students with regard to recruiting for gaming, academics, and industry knowledge. Meanwhile, second-year students have the opportunity to practice the coaching and mentoring skills necessary to stand out as a leader and manager.

Community

MIGA maintains deep connections to USC's famed Trojan network. Whether through former USC Marshall School of Business alums in leadership positions at top gaming companies to their colleagues who graduated from the USC Games Program to non-USC video game professionals, MIGA has access to rising stars and established leaders in the video game industry. We draw on our network to provide a tantalizing array of guest speakers who share their wisdom and insights. Moreover, our current members maintain a fun and welcoming community with great social events, like organizing periodic online multiplayer gaming sessions.
