Advanced Games Project (AGP) is the capstone game development class of the USC Games department. AGPs (and MFA Thesis Projects in USC's Interactive Media & Game Development (IMGD) program) are developed by students and presented at the USC Games Expo on campus at the end of the school year.

As MIGA members, you will have the opportunity to join an AGP or MFA project and support the creation of a brand new game through our partnership with USC Games. This is a very unique opportunity for MIGA members to get tangible professional experience with game production that they can showcase!

Testimonials from previous AGp participants

"Through MIGA’s AGP program with USC Games, I had the opportunity to be a Co-Producer on an MFA (Interactive Media and Games) Thesis Project called Pig & Chikin, a 3D story-driven platformer. Though I was new to game development, I was given the opportunity to build and facilitate production processes across the development team, from design to engineering to audio. Turning an idea into a playable experience at the 2024 USC Games Expo, it was amazing seeing people immediately resonate with the game’s core emotional themes, as well as witnessing the joy of children as they learned to play as the two lovable animal protagonists. MIGA’s AGP volunteer program is an incredibly rewarding experience!"

Joining the AGP project as a Marketing Lead was a game-changer in my career. I had the opportunity to work closely with renowned professors from the USC Games program, where I gained practical experience in game marketing. This included learning how to position games, evaluate game art and trailers, and ensure they aligned with our marketing goals. Most importantly, I got the chance to collaborate with a diverse group of students from different programs, each with unique expertise. From coders to artists, everyone brought a fresh perspective that challenged and broadened my own. Together, we contributed to creating a game from start to finish, equipping me with real-world skills in game development. This experience served as an excellent starting point for me, as someone without prior experience in games, to break into the industry.
