Membership Policies

Any Marshall graduate student -- including Full-Time, MBA.PM, IBEAR, EMBA, MAcc, MBT and specialized masters students -- may join any Marshall graduate student organization (with a few exceptions, see below). Membership fees and access for career related organizations may be segmented based on events and appropriateness for each academic program.

Membership Policies for Marshall Graduate Students

Diversity/Affinity Organizations and Social/Athletic Organizations

Membership in Marshall Diversity & Affinity Organizations and Social & Athletic Organizations is open to all Marshall graduate students for a standard membership fee. Refer to individual student organization websites for fees.

Industry and Functional Career Interest Organizations

Based on employer recruitment goals, membership in Industry and Functional Career Interest student organizations may be segmented by academic program:

  • MBA student membership - allows students to participate in organization events and activities appropriate for MBA students, and based on company requests.
  • Specialized Masters student membership - allows students to participate in organization events and activities appropriate for specialized masters students, and based on company requests.
  • Note: Membership in Marshall Finance Association (MFA) and Marshall Consulting and Strategy Club (MCSC) is open to MBA students only.

Full-Time MBA Umbrella Organizations

Membership in Full-Time MBA Umbrella Organizations, including Marshall Graduate Student Association (MGSA), Full-Time and Marshall Gives Back (MGB) is currently reserved for Full-Time MBA students.

Club Membership for non-Marshall Graduate Students

Non-Marshall graduate students are not permitted to join Marshall clubs, regardless of what the club constitution says. The reason for this is that a Marshall email address is required to utilize Campus Groups, which is how club membership and event registrations are managed.

Event Attendance for Non-Marshall Graduate Students (includes Workshops, Site Visits, Treks, etc.)

Non-Marshall graduate students may attend club events at the discretion of the club's leadership. If there is an admission fee for the event, non-Marshall students should pay a premium to attend. If space is limited, priority will be given to Marshall club members first, then Marshall non-members, then non-Marshall students.

Undergraduate Students

Undergraduate students are not permitted to join Marshall graduate student organizations or attend any of their events.
